The University Budget Office operates within the division of Finance and Administration and fulfills three primary roles for the institution including: Leading the development of the university’s $550 million annual budget Performing financial analysis and forecasting for various campus and external stakeholders Providing financial and operational guidance and support for departmental administrative groups
Learn more about PSU’s University Budget Office online at www.pdx.edu/budget Position Summary The Assistant Budget Analyst is an entry level role that reports to the University Budget Director and provides support to the Budget Office and campus by: Preparing materials, taking notes, managing correspondence, and providing general support for other team members on large Budget Office projects such as the Tuition Review Advisory Committee, Fines & Fees committee, and quarterly reporting for the Board of Trustees Executing routine, scheduled tasks such as transactions for month-end close, budget journal vouchers, and unit budget reviews. Providing other general support such as updating the Budget Office website as well as ad hoc data analysis in response to information requests and forecasting needs This position is required to be physically on campus 3-5 days per work week. Remote work may be available based upon business need. A copy of a Remote Agreement shall be retained in the employee’s electronic personnel file with Human Resources. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

Bachelor’s degree, plus two years’ experience related to budget development, analysis and execution (such as analyzing financial information, forecasting program needs, monitoring expenditures.)

Excellent numerical analytical ability; high degree of accuracy
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to work in a cross-functional and fast-paced professional team environment
- Ability to meet deadlines and follow-through on tasks
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and proficiency using Word and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with diverse students in university or college environments
- Understanding of fund accounting
- Knowledge of Banner FIS and/or HRIS
- Knowledge of Cognos and IBM-TM1 Key Cultural Competencies Create an environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates differences. Work Days/Hours Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.
The starting annual salary for this position will be $48,144 but may be negotiated above this range, dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
