Associate Category Manager, Merchandising – OnSite: Tampa, FL
What Will You Do?
The Associate Category Manger is responsible for helping to develop business strategies and seasonal assortment plans to maximize the company’s retail brand. This position will analyze sales, margins, and create promotional plans to optimize the assortment. The Associate Category Manager will identify category expansion opportunities and product development to curate a compelling and productive assortment while developing and maintaining partnerships with cross functional teams. Through close collaboration with a variety of teams, the Associate Category Manager will assist in communicating and executing both the long-term and seasonal merchandising strategies. This position also manages information across retail, sourcing, production, marketing and visual to ensure process is followed and timelines are met.
Ability to adapt to a fast paced, evolving retail environment with a positive attitude.Be an “expert” on assigned categories with the ability to optimize the assortment by adding new products and/or categories and by removing poor performers.Strong retail math and knowledge of retail reporting. Ability to present key insights with relevant and actionable product strategies.Perform market analysis and competitive shop; analyze sales trends to keep abreast of current trends.Update department documents/helping the assistant category managers in distributing cross functional communication. Communicate annual and seasonal merchandising strategies to cross-functional teams.Collaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership to execute both long-term and seasonal merchandising strategies.Assist in driving category sales and profitability through the development and execution of promotional plans across multiple channels.Develop seasonal product mix by channel, prepare category assortment overview by pricing level, subcategory mix and SKU counts. Maintain current assortment by leading regular category sales reviews, margin analysis, retail pricing structure reviews, and product turn strategy.Assist in the preparation for markets and the set-up and presentation of the showroom.Visit stores and contact field management to gather information on customer feedback and product issues.Collaborate with the planning team and recommend adjustments to markdowns, delivery changes and production changes to maximize sales, profits, and budget.Team player that has stellar communication skills and displays respect and accountability cross functionally.Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize projects in a dynamic work environment.Committed to continual improvement and suggesting ways to improve.Demonstrate the Company’s Core and Growth Values in the performance of all job functions.What Do You Need?
2+ years experience in traditional retail buying or related area, RequiredBachelor Degree in Business, Merchandising, Retailing or related degree or equivalent work experience, RequiredStrong knowledge and proficiency in merchandising, pricing and assortment planningStrong proficiency in retail math, open-to-buy and system analysisStrong project management skillsStrong attention to detailExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsEffective time management and organizational skillsWork independently as well as in a team environmentDocument management systemAnalytical and problem solving skillsMaintain confidentialityWorking knowledge of Continuous ImprovementHandle multiple projects simultaneously within established time constraintsProficient computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel, internetStrong skills in agility, along with the ability to pivot easily when directions and priorities changes on short noticePerform under strong demands in a fast-paced environmentWork professionally with customers and co-workers to efficiently serve our customers, treating both with enthusiasm and respectDisplay empathy, understanding and patience with employees and external customersRespond professionally in situations with difficult employee/vendor/customer issues or inquiriesOccasional Domestic Travel and Opportunity for International TravelWho Are We?
