Assistant Chemist

Reports to:  Factory Chemist/ Director of Technical Services

Summary of position:

This position is an opportunity to gain experience in an industrial laboratory setting and learn multiple aspects such as operations, process control, inventory tracking, and performance reporting. The position would be responsible for learning the essential functions through various projects and hands-on training.

Essential Functions:

Records and is responsible for the accuracy of the production output; analyzes data and constructs daily operation reports, which includes inventories on items such as: thick juice tanks, molasses, and extraction; investigates and produces responses for data abnormalities. Provides support for technical data collection and reporting for operations, warehouse reporting, and tare lab operations. Completes production scenario models to forecast expected production and reach maximum optimization; suggests improvements for test procedures to achieve project objectives Assists in the coordination, prioritization, and plannings lab tasks to meet deadlines. Monitors, inspects and maintains laboratory instruments to ensure proper working order Develops, improves, or customizes products, equipment, formulas, processes, or analytical methods Reviews documentation of all activities to ensure compliance to the process; writes, implements, and reviews Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), programs, and specifications; implements protocol

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Science degree or currently pursuing a degree with 2 years experience in Chemistry or related field. Minimum of two years laboratory experience required.
