Job Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity as an Assistant Claims Consultan in our Garden City, NY location.  This fast-paced, highly rewarding position is the first point of contact when a client has a loss.  The Assistant Claim Advocate will initiate the claim process working closely with the client, insurance carrier, adjuster and claimants as well as co-workers in the Claims department.  

 

Responsibilities:

Assists clients of the agency in reporting and monitoring of Personal lines claims, which includes taking initial loss notice, getting loss notice to the appropriate insurance company, communicating with insured on adjuster assignment, tracking claims payments, and following the claim until closed by the insurance company.

Conducts initial reviews of claims for any coverage questions, reviews any denial of coverage for accuracy and acts as a liaison between insured and insurance company adjuster.

Serves as contact for Adjuster and Insured for claims related issues.

Exceptional written and oral communication skills, especially on the phone

Able to organize and prioritize work flows and is detailed oriented in order to meet company/industry deadlines

Self-motivated, able to work with little direction

Refers complex coverage questions to Risk Manager 

Secures loss runs from carriers as requested.

Prepares claims information for presentations as requested.

Provides claims packets to customers and prospects as requested.

Comfortable reading policy forms, understanding coverage and questioning carriers when necessary

Evaluates and challenges claim reserves in accord with industry and claim specific knowledge

Qualifications:

Strong multi-tasking, organizational, communication & grammatical skills.

Ability to work independently of continuous supervision and achieve a high-level product within requested time constraints.

Must be able to work as a team member to achieve department goals and overall company goals.

Excellent customer service skills, including telephone and listening skills.

A positive outlook and desire to learn and grow with us.

Proficiency with MS Office Suite

Applied EPIC experience preferred

 

Education and/or Experience:

High School Diploma or the recognized equivalent is required.

One to three years of claim experience, with an emphasis on Personal lines

Pay Details:

Annual Salary: $50,000 - $60,000
