4 Year Degree St. Norbert College (SNC), a nationally ranked private Catholic liberal arts institution, invites applications for the position of Assistant Coach - Football/Defensive Coordinator. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the defensive unit and other duties as assigned by the Head Coach of Football.

Specific responsibilities: - Teach the skills, techniques, and strategies of defensive football to the student-athletes.

- Complete administrative coaching responsibilities such as preparing practice and game plans, watching game videos, scouting opponents, academic studies follow-up with players, check-ins, etc.

- Supervise Assistant Coaches for specific coaching responsibilities based on positions. Follow up and review game plans with assistant coaches.

- Provide game day management for assigned sports.

- Recruit qualified student-athletes to participate in the football program. Recruiting is by electronic, telephonic, and in-person (travel) means.

- Assist in organizing and participating in summer camps and clinics under the direction of the Head Coach - Football.

Supervision Exercised Over: - 3-4 Assistant Coaches

Working Conditions: Regular work hours are generally Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Evening work (2-3/week) and weekends (20 - 25 annually) will be required for practices and games which may be off campus. This position also needs to travel for recruiting both in and out of the season driving a college-owned vehicle. The position will be exposed to outdoor work and possibly inclement and/or hot/cold weather.

Required Minimum Qualifications:   

Bachelor’s degree 1-2 years of collegiate coaching experience 1-2 years of coordinator and game-planning experience at any level Experience in 4-man front defense is a plus. Valid Driver’s License Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse campus environment or commitment to do so as an employee of St. Norbert College. Skilled in instruction, practice/game plan development, general administrative duties, and understanding of NCAA rules compliance. Ability to effectively teach fundamentals and strategies of football to collegiate-level athletes during practice sessions and to successfully coach strategy during competition. Ability to motivate athletes to perform at peak ability. Ability to use football recruiting and scouting software programs. Ability to counsel student-athletes on requirements for personal conduct, academic performance, and athletic participation, including good sportsmanship. Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and customers, particularly in conflict situations. Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines, and prioritize tasks and assignments. Skilled in basic math computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to exercise good judgment and decisions expeditiously. Skilled at setting a good example for others. Skilled at organizing events, programs, and projects and seeing them through to completion. Ability to concentrate and focus in a noisy environment.
