Assistant Coach of Sailing Posting Number C00362JP Department Athletics Job Summary The Assistant Coach of Sailing assists in all aspects of the intercollegiate Sailing team including practice, race day logistics, travel and other team events. This part-time position requires a dedicated individual with a passion for sailing and coaching, who can inspire and mentor student-athletes while fostering a competitive and supportive team environment. Key Responsibilities: + Provide coaching and leadership to the Bowdoin College sailing team. + Ensure the safety and well-being of all team members during practices and competitions. + Maintain and manage sailing equipment and facilities. Hourly rate for this position is $25.00/ per hour. Education/Skills Requirements + A high school diploma or GED equivalent required. + Ability to motivate and effectively communicate with student-athletes + Commitment to being a positive member of the Athletics Department, the college community and the ability to influence athletes to do the same + Ability to be self-directed and motivated and be able to work independently and work in a stressful environment. + Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the standards of the College’s current Motor Vehicle Policy. + Current CPR , AED , and First Aid certification. + The successful candidate will be subject to a criminal background check and motor vehicle check. Preferred: + Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents + Knowledge of sailing techniques and training methods and ability to effectively teach them + Working knowledge of NCAA and NESCAC rules and an understanding of the philosophy behind them. Preferred: + Demonstrated effectiveness in coaching Sailing. Standard Work Days and Hours + This is a casual, part-time, non-benefit eligible position. + The schedule will vary dependent on the needs of the Sailing Team.
