Work with Team Phoenix leadership and Head Coach to support the vision, leadership and strategic planning while assisting in the direction and supervision of all activities relative to teaching, training and skill development of cancer survivor-athletes. Support Team Phoenix’s mission of fostering an environment which is focused on the physical, personal and social development of cancer survivors as well as instilling habits of life long fitness.
Follow the policies and expectations of all AH employees. All training plans, data bases, media and communication will be owned exclusively by AH and will be used exclusively for Team Phoenix purposes.
Major Responsibilities:
Responsible for adhering to the USAT triathlon training guidelines, formats and current industry standards keeping health (physical, emotional and social), wellness, and safety as the foremost priority.Support the head coach to implement all training plans to accommodate a range of athletic ability to safely and successfully train for and complete the season end goal activityResponsible for coordinating coverage for community and medical volunteers to assure safe and successful training of all individual athletesHelp coordinate educational sessions (recruit AH and community experts) regarding nutrition, bike technique, run technique, and swim techniqueHelp coordinate with program director on apparel and incentive orders based on the needs of the groupSupport Head Coach to effectively coordinate training sessions by communicating information regarding training and races to athletes, alumnae, community/medical volunteers, and leadership team: training plans via online app, binder resource materials, weekly newsletter, reminder emails for special training sessions, at group training sessionsHelp to communicate training goals to medical/alumnae volunteers so that they can best instruct and support athletes at training sessions, track athlete progress at training sessions and individualize instruction as needed in order to assure athletes meet weekly benchmarksCommunicate with the head coach and leadership team on progress of the individual athletes and any concerns (medical, emotional, social or physical)Communicate with athletes to support, motivate and answer questions in a timely manner throughout the training seasonHelp to set up training session sights to assure safe and successful training for each athleteResponsible for administering and following aquatic procedures and guidelines.Available to assist members and guests of the facility at all times.Responsible for keeping the deck clean and clear of obstacles at all times.Ensure equipment is being used and stored properly.Complete aquatic facility maintenance as assigned.Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
