Assistant Controller
Description SaaS/Tech client is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join their finance team in New York. As an integral part of the finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining general ledger accounts, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting process improvement initiatives. This role will also involve cross-functional collaboration, cash flow management, and ad hoc financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities: + Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial statements. + Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure proper classification of financial transactions. + Collaborate with various departments to gather financial data and support decision-making. + Stay up-to-date on relevant accounting principles, regulations, and industry trends. + Assist in audit preparation and work closely with external auditors. + Support the preparation of income tax filings and ensure compliance with state and federal tax regulations. + Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement within the finance department. + Assist with collection efforts and manage cash flow forecasts to ensure financial stability. + Collaborate with the treasury headquarters to optimize cash management processes. + Conduct ad hoc financial analysis as requested by management. Requirements • Possess at least 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a pre-IPO or SaaS environment • Hold a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification • Proficient in US GAAP and ASC 606 • Proven experience with financial reporting and cash flow management • Demonstrated knowledge of general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes • Familiarity with NetSuite financial software is desirable • Previous experience with a Big 4 accounting firm is a plus • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections • Strong written, verbal, and collaborative communication skills • Detail-oriented and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
