Assistant Controller
Description We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. As an integral part of our team, your role will be centered around maintaining financial integrity, driving the month-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with GAAP. This role is also critical in delivering accurate financial reporting and acting as a technical accounting resource for the team. Responsibilities: • Take charge of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP standards • Oversee the integrity of the general ledger and work with the local accounting team to develop detailed workpapers and account reconciliations • Act as a guide on complex accounting matters, including revenue recognition, consolidations, lease accounting, and new pronouncements • Prepare financial schedules and coordinate with external auditors for the annual audit to ensure compliance with audit standards and deadlines • Implement and maintain internal controls, ensuring the organization is audit-ready and compliant with established policies • Continuously review transactional data to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to accounting policies across the organization • Play a pivotal role in our ERP migration, ensuring data accuracy, system efficiency, and integration across business units • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development among accounting staff through mentorship and guidance • Utilize relevant accounting software systems such as ADP - Financial Services, Concur, Crystal Reports, and DCAA to ensure efficient processing of accounting functions. Requirements • Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of accounting or finance • Proficient in Accounting Software Systems and ADP - Financial Services • Experience with Concur, Crystal Reports, and DCAA is necessary • Strong understanding of Accounting Functions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) • Experience in Auditing, Billing Functions, and Public Accounting is required • Familiarity with Public Accounting Audit, Audit Workpapers, and Supporting Workpapers • Should have experience in Assurance Services • Previous work experience in a Big 4 Accounting Firm is highly desirable • Must have excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required, an advanced degree is preferred • Should be familiar with financial regulations and standards • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of management.
