Assistant Controller
Description We are in the search for an Assistant Controller to join our clients team in Winnebago, Nebraska. The Assistant Controller will play a critical role in supporting various areas including finance, budgeting, administration, and IT, while also leading and developing an internal team. This role will be integral to strategic decision making and operations, with a focus on enhancing the efficiency and capacity of our operations. Responsibilities: • Lead and develop an internal team to support finance, budgeting, administration, and IT operations. • Maintain a system of internal controls and ensure continuous monitoring across various divisions. • Ensure all reconciliations are completed on a monthly basis before the deadline. • Support senior financial leaders in maintaining short and long-term financial plans and forecasts. • Supervise various other accounting staff, evaluating performance, and providing relevant training or development opportunities. • Monitor financial policies and procedures, ensuring updates as needed. • Supervise payroll and tax filings ensuring completion in a timely manner by each required deadline. • Develop proficiency in daily activities of the finance department. • Provide expertise to Management relating to accounting and budgetary matters. • Assist in managing cash and investment accounts in accordance with guidelines, ensuring accurate transactions through bank reconciliations. • Assist in preparing payroll according to Federal, State, and Tribal law, maintaining accurate records and supporting materials for all payroll transactions. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent field • Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role within the Gambling Industries • Proficient in Accounting Software Systems • Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services • Experience with Concur and Crystal Reports • Knowledge of DCAA regulations and requirements • Capable of handling all Accounting Functions • Ability to manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) • Experience in Auditing • Skilled in Billing Functions and Payroll processing • Proficiency in Bank Reconciliations and Journal Entries • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion • Familiarity with the gambling industry's legal and regulatory requirements • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
