Responsibilities The Assistant Controller will be responsible for leading month-end, quarter-end, and yearly-end financial closing processes and overseeing year-end financial and benefit audits. They will lead the preparation of comprehensive internal and external financial reports and analyses. This position will work closely with the Corporate Controller and key stakeholders to develop and implement policies, procedures, and controls for accounting. Manage the monthly financial close process, journal entry review, account balance reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules. Prepare monthly financial reporting package and variance analysis. Communicate and collaborate with key business leaders and play an active role in the monthly actuals vs. budget review meetings to ensure financial information is accurate and timely. Work closely with FP&A team assisting in the forecast and budgeting process. Lead external audits, maintain compliance with accounting standards and sales & use tax Ensure all financial transactions, policies and procedures meet the objectives of the company and US GAAP. Perform research and outline proposals to address technical accounting issues. Implement and monitor accounting policies, procedures and internal controls as necessary to support US GAAP. Providing key leadership and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of fiscal diligence and continuous improvement. Implement industry standard best practices across new and existing workflows while focusing on optimization and the reduction of manual processes Identify process improvement opportunities and lead process improvement efforts to increase accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of month end close. Serve as an agent of change for system improvements and technology automation. Support implementation of new projects, software, and tools to gain efficiencies, standardize processes, and automate controls. Collaborating closely with senior management to deliver strategic financial insights that support business growth and decision-making Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting is preferred, CPA with public accounting experience is preferred 8 or more years of experience with corporate accounting 5 or more years of leadership experience Extensive knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls Experience with leading change and implementing process improvement initiatives from inception to completion Strong people and communication skills to articulate verbally and written, persuade, evaluate, and document complex process issues, and present information to audiences Excellent problem-solving, technical, and analytical skills Excellent organizational and time management skills Blain Supply, Inc and Blain’s Farm and Fleet (collectively “Blain’s”) is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
