Assist the Controller in the financial management of the Hotel Casino Resort & Spa. 

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.Assist with the management of all financial departments and functions of the Resort.Ensures Daily Operating Report is prepared and issued on a timely and accurate basis.Administers the property management (LMS) and P.O.S. system programsManages property Staff Accountants, Non-Gaming Auditors, and Hotel Billing Coordinator which includes their hiring, training, and annual reviews. Has management responsibility for General Ledger in accordance with GAAP and assists with areas in Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable, Payroll and Casino Audit.Reviews all Bank account activity daily and notifies Superiors of any variances or inconsistencies. Monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts and balance to General Ledger.Prepare and assist staff, if necessary, with monthly balance sheet reconciliations.Prepares monthly invoices for all intercompany accounts and assists in collections if necessaryPrepare weekly comp expense report and distributes to management personnelAssist Financial Controller with monthly preparation of financial statement and assist department management with questions regarding their areas.   Implement and ensure compliance with all policies and proceduresResponsible for coordinating implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures. Performs any other duties assigned by Financial Controller or Senior Management. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training team members; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining team members; developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards. Qualifications

Analytical financial and accounting experience. Minimum 10 years of accounting and 5 years management experience. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information. Ability to read and analyze information detailing assets, liabilities and capital, and prepare P&L statements. Basic knowledge of accounting practices and principles. Skill in the use of PC and related software applications. Competent in the use of computer spreadsheets, database and mainframe applications in a Windows environment. Knowledge of federal and state tax laws. Ability to understand and process complex paperwork. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to tactfully and diplomatically deal with the public and staff. Must possess excellent business sense and high professional ethics.  Must possess a high regard for guest service and team member relations, with the ability to perform in fast paced and goal oriented environment.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business or comparable work experience plus ten years general accounting experience. Five years management experience required. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Exceptional reading, writing and public speaking skills are important to the successful conduct of this position.  Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical reports, general business periodicals, professional journals or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, rates, ratio, proportions and percentages. 

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to apply legal, regulatory and procedure doctrine, concepts and policy to practical situations. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS

Must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation to obtain and maintain a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency. CPA, CHAE, CIA, or CMA or other Accounting certification preferred.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The team member frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms. The team member is occasionally required to sit. The team member must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a fast paced work environment and the position requires the ability to cope with it. The casino environment has moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment.

 

WORKING HOURS:

Because we are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, most positions require flexibility in scheduling and may require Team Members be available for evenings, weekends, holidays and special events. A typical workweek is 40 hours and normal work schedules may vary based on business needs and may include scheduled shifts Monday through Sunday. Position may require overtime.
