Assistant Controller

Description
We are in search of an Assistant Controller to join our team in Pearland, Texas. The chosen candidate will play a vital role in our financial operations, including assisting with financial statement preparation, auditing inventory control processes, and coordinating audits. This role is integral to the successful management of our accounts payable and receivable functions, as well as the maintenance of our accounting software.
Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the creation and examination of monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements.
• Aid the VP of Finance in creating and overseeing financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Conduct reconciliations of the general ledger and aid with the closing processes at the end of the month and year.
• Evaluate financial performance and generate reports for management to aid in decision-making.
• Organize and manage audits, maintaining a strong relationship with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable operations, guaranteeing efficient and precise processing.
• Audit processes for inventory control to ensure accurate and current records for raw materials, finished goods, and work in progress.
• Generate and upkeep detailed inventory reports, including reconciling physical inventory with financial records.
• Guarantee proper valuation of inventory based on cost methods and compliance with accounting principles.
• Utilize current ERP system to boost operational efficiency.
• Assist in maintaining the integrity of data in accounting software.
• Support the VP of Finance in financial analysis and special projects as required.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and financial reporting standards.

Requirements
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Assistant Controller role or similar
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in accounting software and spreadsheet programs
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is a plus.
