Description Assistant Controller – Construction Services Firm Location: Garden City, Long Island, NY Anna Parson at Robert Half is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller for an established, rapidly growing Construction Services firm located in Garden City, Long Island. As the Assistant Controller, you will support the Controller/CFO to: + Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with GAAP. + Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities. + Leading and performing month-end and year-end close processes. + Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities. + Monitoring cash flow and financial metrics to identify areas of improvement. + Managing compliance with company policies, federal/state regulations, and internal controls. + Assisting with audits, tax filings, and other reporting requirements. + Driving process improvements and implementing best practices across accounting functions. Requirements Qualifications: The ideal candidate will bring energy and precision to this role and thrive in a collaborative environment. Key qualifications include: + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. + 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, ideally in the construction or related services industry. + Proven leadership and supervisory experience. + Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls. + Proficiency with accounting software (experience with construction industry-specific software preferred). + Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong overall technical proficiency. + Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
