Assistant Controller at Venture Capital Fund

Our client, an innovative venture capital firm based in San Francisco, manages nearly $1 billion in assets and supports over 70 cutting-edge tech companies. As they continue to expand, they are seeking a motivated Assistant Controller to join their dynamic team. Responsibilities: + Review ledgers, journal entries, valuations, and accruals while overseeing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes, reconciliations, and flux analysis. + Assist in the preparation of financial reporting packages, fund financials, presentations, and reports for limited partners. + Manage partnership accounting, including capital account reconciliations, statement preparation, and tax workpapers, as well as analyzing Fund-of-Funds capital statements. + Document and maintain accounting policies, processes, and controls while working to enhance and automate procedures. + Prepare capital calls and distributions for limited partners. + Support cash management, treasury functions, and budget tracking. + Assist with quarterly and annual reporting, consolidation, tax returns, and compliance filings. + Collaborate on projects related to system enhancements, technical accounting, and the application of U.S. GAAP; support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting. Requirements + 6+ years of experience in financial services, with a mix of public and private sector exposure, particularly in venture capital. + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field. + Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and fair value accounting principles. + Proficient in G-Suite and Excel, demonstrating strong analytical skills. + Detail-oriented with excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. + Highly accurate, organized, and adept at time management. + A collaborative team player with a strong work ethic. + Willingness to work off-hours as needed to meet project demands.
