Job Title: Assistant Controls Engineering Manager

Job Description

The Assistant Controls Engineering Manager will support an Engineering Services Division that is rapidly growing and providing contract engineering services to various customers, primarily for PLC and Robot support. This new role will alleviate the additional load on the current Controls Manager by overseeing the Automation Engineer Services Team and managing the workload brought in by the services division.

ResponsibilitiesSupport the Controls Manager and act as the Technical Lead/Supervisor for the Automation Engineer Services Team.Shadow the current Controls Manager to understand management responsibilities and gradually take over the management of the workload.Assign engineers to projects based on their skillsets and the scope of work.Analyze project requirements and determine the most suitable engineers to support them.Step in to assist engineers with technical tasks when necessary.Collaborate closely with the business development lead and maintain customer relationships.Understand various controls architectures, hardware, and software, primarily related to PLCs and associated systems.Coordinate work activities and ensure effective team organization and support.Possess basic project management skills to ensure successful project execution.Conduct interviews and hire new talent for the team.Essential SkillsPLC programming skills in Siemens or Allen Bradley, with the ability to program from scratch.Basic understanding of hardware design related to PLCs.Familiarity with Industry Standards and Customer Specifications.Experience in project management.Proficiency in electrical engineering and robotics.Ability to interface comfortably with customers.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field (Associates degree acceptable with relevant experience).Familiarity and work experience with Motion Controls, Automation, and Robotics.Experience programming PLC systems (Rockwell & Siemens preferred) or Robot systems (Fanuc).Proficiency in MS Office and CAD software (AutoCad, ePlan) - preferred but not required.Work Environment

The role is primarily based on-site at the headquarters in Whitmore Lake, which includes engineering, design, and manufacturing facilities. The position involves managing employees who support customers off-site, with potential travel of about 25% - 30% to check on team members. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $60.00
