The City of Chicago Law Department is seeking an attorney for the position of Assistant Corporation Counsel (“ACC”) in the Aviation, Environmental, Regulatory Contracts (“AERC”) Division. AERC handles a wide range of transactional, regulatory, and litigation matters in areas such as aviation, procurement, public utilities, intellectual property, data sharing, and environmental protection.
This ACC, working under the general supervision of the Deputy Corporation Counsel, Chief Assistant Corporation Counsel, and Supervising ACCs, will represent and counsel the Chicago Department of Aviation (“CDA”) regarding a wide range of transactional, and regulatory matters related to O’Hare and Midway International Airports. They will also be responsible for administrative and enforcement proceedings at CDA, and may also be required to assist with litigation and prelitigation dispute resolution. This ACC will be required to attend in-person client meetings or hearings onsite at the City’s airports and other locations, and may be required to assist in the other practice areas, as needed to support operations.
This position involves considerable research, writing, and collaboration with colleagues, and requires creativity, flexibility, and a willingness and ability to learn complex statutory and regulatory frameworks, as well as a genuine enthusiasm for tackling challenging legal matters.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
