No Duties and Responsibilities Loyola University Chicago School of Law is a student-focused law school inspired by the Jesuit tradition of academic excellence, intellectual openness, and service to others. The Assistant Dean for Student Services and Weekend JD serves a pivotal role in carrying out the university’s mission of cura personalis, care for the whole person, in the context of supporting students. The Assistant Dean is charged with leading the Student Services Office by providing leadership and administration of key office functions which include academic advising, academic integrity and character and fitness disclosures, exam accommodations, oversight of student organizations, and student-centered programming.
The Assistant Dean leads the development of the JD student experience at the School of Law, fostering student growth, leadership, and well-being. The Assistant Dean also supervises the Student Services team and advises senior administration on Weekend JD programmatic needs. This work is accomplished through close collaboration across the Law School and University, partnering with Law School deans, faculty, and staff, and campus partners.
Key student services functions include, but are not limited to:
Development and delivery of an academic advising strategy that proactively supports students in the full-time and Weekend JD program.
Oversight over the implementation of exam accommodations, working collaboratively with the central Student Accessibility Office, and providing support to faculty in the implementation of classroom accommodations.
Leading the development of and implementation of a student-centered programming strategy, the development of student resources, and the delivery of student support. This involves proactive collaboration with student-facing offices in the development and implementation of student-centered programming, including a master student programming/event calendar, the establishment and enforcement of related event planning processes and procedures, reviewing, approving and supporting student events, and partnering across the Law School and with university partners on events, as needed. Partners include the Law School Offices of Academic Success and Bar Passage, Admissions, Advancement, Career Services, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Registrar, as well as university offices such as the Dean of Students and Wellness Center.
Leading Law School events such as first-year orientation, pre-graduation celebration, student and administration roundtable discussions, end of the semester community meals, and smaller events throughout the semester.
Oversight of and support to student organizations and law journals, including leadership development, event planning, allocation of student development funds, and serving as advisor to the Student Bar Association.
Oversight and implementation of a student communication strategy that includes regular communication to the student body and the maintenance of student resources, such as the Student Handbook and student services web pages.
Providing programmatic support for the Weekend JD program, including implementation of the vision for the program, administrative support to faculty, and continual assessment of and responsiveness to student needs.
Review of student-related law school policies, including advising on student-related policies and communicating policies to students.
Handling of Character and Fitness disclosures, investigating Student Code of Conduct complaints, and partnering with Law School and University offices, as needed.
Handling of leaves of absences, including communication with the University Offices of Financial Aid and Bursar, to appropriately advise students contemplating a leave.
Overseeing wellness-related support for students, including development relationships with Law School and campus partners.
Working with members of the community (administrators, faculty, staff, and students) to problem-solve student-related concerns and elevate the student experience.

• At least 5-6 years of relevant experience in enrollment or admissions Qualifications Required qualifications: Master’s degree 5-6 years of relevant work experience in student services, enrollment, admissions or related field
