Assistant Director, Financial Assistance - Hybrid

The Assistant Director, Law Financial Aid, is responsible for managing the financial aid process specifically for law students. This includes overseeing application processing, need analysis, awarding, and compliance with relevant regulations. The Assistant Director works closely with the Law School administration to provide tailored support and guidance to law students, ensuring timely and accurate financial aid services that align with the unique needs of legal education.

Location: Hybrid / Coral Gables Campus

Key Responsibilities:

Law Student Financial Aid Administration:
Manage all aspects of the financial aid process for law students, including need analysis, packaging, disbursement, and monitoring of financial aid awards. Ensure accurate and timely processing in compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies.Collaboration with Law School Administration:
Act as a primary liaison with the Law School administration, providing information on financial aid policies, procedures, and resources available to law students. Support program-specific initiatives, including financial literacy and loan counseling.Scholarship and Funding Allocation:
Administer scholarships, grants, and assistantships specific to law students, ensuring alignment with donor intentions and institutional goals. Work with Advancement on the stewardship of endowed scholarships.Student Advising and Client Service:
Provide one-on-one advising to law students regarding their financial aid packages, eligibility, loan options, and repayment. Offer guidance on maintaining eligibility, managing loans, and understanding financial aid policies.Compliance and Documentation:
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies for law financial aid programs. Keep thorough and accurate records for audit purposes and assist in the preparation of compliance reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Education, Business, Law, or a related field; Master’s Degree preferred.Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in financial aid administration with a focus on professional school aid, preferably law; 4+ years of experience preferred. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered. Knowledge of federal financial aid regulations and specific needs of law students.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on student advising and compliance.

Skills and Certifications:

NASFAA Professional Credentials in Student Eligibility, Direct Loans and Return of Title IV Funds are preferred. Other credentials are encouraged.Proficiency with financial aid systems and loan counseling tools is beneficial.
