Position Summary\:

The Assistant Director will support RALS faculty and staff activities around issues of risk, resilience & sustainability(RRS). They will work closely with department faculty to assist in focusing their applied research in risk management, insurance, actuarial science, and environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters, and support activities that promote the study of these disciplines broadly, and serve to drive dialogue and innovation by supporting events that bring together leaders in industry, government and academia to focus on these interdisciplinary industry forces and trends. The Assistant Director will work with faculty to form and support an advisory board of executive leaders and industry alumni to advise the department on its education and research agenda. They will support activities focused on developing and coordinating corporate/business relationships with the department and with the Fox School.

Under the supervision of  a lead department faculty member and in coordination with the Development and Alumni Relations teams, the Assistant Director is responsible for the coordination of conferences, speaker series, workshops, career events, competitions, and events  including  faculty-led events, student-led events, activities such as research symposia, executive-in-residence events, student mentoring programs, Alumni Board meetings and events, and the Senior Advisory Board meetings. The incumbent will be the primary project manager and will oversee the creation and development of programs, the publication of an annual report, and maintenance of the website along with acting as a liaison to the Marketing and Communications team on the promotion of activities and to the Center for Executive Education on managing the logistics of training developed with CEDWC.  The Assistant Director will also be engaged in researching and drafting grant and other fundraising proposals. 

Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience\:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least three years of related experience that includes managing events and/or projects and engaging students and/or corporations. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities\:

*Demonstrated advanced skills with the Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn and utilize web management software and Temple systems including but not limited to those for procurement, contract management, expense processing, event registration and student hiring.

*Demonstrated project management, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects with varying timelines and priorities.

*Knowledge of planning, production and management of large, small, high profile, and less-formal events for diverse and distinguished guests.

*Ability to use independent judgement to identify and analyze complex problems and select an appropriate course of action that typically involves change or innovation.

*Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.

*Ability to work as a team player across multiple levels.

*Strong customer service skills and ability to understand and assess needs.

*Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and external constituents.

*Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Preferred\:

*Demonstrated interest in risk management, insurance, actuarial science, and/or environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters.

*Experience in working with industry, faculty and students on projects.

*Experience in data management including the ability to research and update contacts and firms.

*Experience with risk-related educational programs.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
