Location: Binghamton, NY Category: Professional Posted On: Fri Jun 21 2024 Job Description: Budget Title: Student Activities Assistant Director (SL-3) Salary: $55,200 - $60,000 The Union operates within the Dean of Students office under the Division of Student Affairs. This multifaceted facility supports events for students, staff, faculty and community members and serves as the campus hub. The Assistant Director will report to the Senior Director for The Union and Student Affairs Space Planning. Duties include: + Supervise, train, and evaluate approximately 25 undergraduate student leaders for The Union bowling lanes and games area, and the YS Kim Korean Student Center serving as Student Receptionists. + Supervise a Graduate Assistant for The Union including the onboarding process, training and evaluation. + Oversee the bowling lanes and games area within The Union. Responsibilities include day-to-day oversight of the space, the purchasing of supplies and supporting maintenance repairs for the lanes by working with third party vendors. + Oversee The Union digital signage and marketing efforts for The Union. Responsibilities include management of the Bright Space software to support digital signage needs, and updating and reviewing the website regularly. + Support the space operation of the YS Kim Korean Student Center. Responsibilities include student organization advisement to support space programming and facilities operational support. + Assist the Senior Director with space allocation and space management projects within The Union and supporting operational areas. Responsibilities include working closely with the Student Association to assess space usage in The Union. + Support the daily space operation of the Culinary Makerspace at Hinman College Dining Center. Responsibilities include training for students, faculty and staff, supporting operational success of the space and ensuring successful reservations in collaboration with campus partners. + Assist the Senior Director in the oversight of recording financials for The Union operations including completing budget support for the bowling lanes operations and invoicing to organizations and departments for facility use charges including chargebacks for events, and digital signage services. + Work collaboratively with Facilities Management to support Union building operations as needed. Responsibilities include submitting work orders, reporting building and space concerns to support building integrity and serving as a department liaison to Facilities Management responding to facilities issues within the building as needed. + Assist with the development, revision and implementation of policies and procedures in The Union to support operational, space, programming and event success. + Assist in the creation of branding initiatives and advancing the mission of The Union in relation to the institution and goals within the Dean of Students Office. + Assist with programming efforts and initiatives within the Dean of Students Office including B-Welcome, Stress-free Bing, and other identified programs. + Work professionally with campus partners including the offices within the Dean of Students, Auxiliary Services, The Student Association, Facilities Management and other departments to support the mission and vision of The Union. + Serve on various University-wide committees to support operational and programmatic needs of the Dean of Students Office and other functional areas as needed. + Occasional night and weekend responsibilities may be required to support Union operations and programs. Job Requirements: + Bachelor's degree in related field + At least one year of professional work experience + Previous experience implementing leadership development and programming efforts in a community or college environment setting + Experience supervising student employees + Strong customer service skills, working with a diverse population + Ability to understand, utilize and adapt to new technology + Excellent communication, collaboration, and administrative skills Preferred: + Master's degree in related field + 3 years of professional experience on a college campus Visa sponsorship is not available for this position Additional Information: Offers of employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check and verification of degree(s) and credentials.
