Reporting to and assisting the Senior Director (Chief Engineer) / Broadcast Operations, this position will manage engineering operations for multiple broadcast control room facilities and athletic venue fiber and cable infrastructure used for ACC Network and HokieVision productions. This position is essential to ensure successful non-interrupted revenue generating broadcasts for our Athletics events, corporate advertisements, and brand promotion of the University.
Responsibilities will include:
* Working independently to maintain fiber connectivity with all venues to control rooms and ESPN.
* Provide broadcast engineering input and technical support of live events for ACC Network broadcast productions and in-house Big Screens/LED productions. Independently assess issues and correct them immediately in stressful situations during live broadcasts.
* Work with the Senior Director (Chief Engineer) to maintain equipment inventory, including computer equipment, software, hardware, and local area network systems throughout the video production facilities and venues.
* Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on audio/visual equipment located in athletics offices, athletic venues, and broadcast control rooms, including but not limited to videoboards and LED screens at venues.
* Serve as liaison to outside broadcast partners for Athletics venues.
* Set-up, operation, and strike of remote and studio broadcast productions, including box lens camera builds, audio mixers, replay systems, graphics systems, and camera shading.
* Train students and interns on various broadcast equipment to ensure proper usage.
* Continuously research broadcast industry trends and independently seek improved equipment workflow and new manufacturer trainings.
