OBO is seeking an Assistant Director who is enthusiastic about and committed to public service and OBO’s mission. The Assistant Director’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: + Serving as the senior advisor to the Director of OBO on all matters and operations of the department. + Directly leading specific divisions within the department, particularly the Contract Compliance and Certification divisions, with general oversight responsibilities for all business areas within the department. + Assisting with establishing the strategic direction, objectives, long and short-term goals, performance metrics, and deliverables for the various business areas in the department. + Managing the personnel needs of the department. + Assisting with managing and monitoring the budget and expenditures of various business areas within the department. + Leading the development and/or revision of the department’s policy and procedures. + Leading business process re-engineering and improvements throughout the department. + Fostering an environment where managers are proactive and are empowered to make independent decisions and recommendations. + Briefing the Mayor and City Council on programs and new initiatives. + Representing the department by serving as a liaison to elected officials, other city departments, government agencies, and the private sector. + Performing special projects, as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS This position involves work in an office environment, as well as work at departmental external events. It will also require work in the evenings and weekends, as needed. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a closely related field. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Seven (7) years of professional experience are required, with at least three (3) of those years in a managerial capacity. A Master's degree may be substituted for two years of experience.
