Purpose
The Assistant Director for Academic Advising provides honors advising to SCL undergraduates. In addition, this role manages degree audit, student records, and related dimensions of academic affairs.
Responsibilities
Advise current Civics Honors students on Civics Honors requirements, individual degree planning, academic policies, institutional rules and regulations, honors and research opportunities, study abroad, internships, and career planning.
Communicate with Civics Honors students registered for summer orientation. Coordinate with New Student Services, UT Parent Association, and other departments for orientation logistics.
Manage and maintain student records in Advisor’s Tool Kit, Interactive Degree Audit, NRRECS, NRTTVR, Seat Management System, and related systems.
Coordinate with SCL staff for course scheduling, registration, seat management.
Support student admission, progress, Civics Honors awareness, and Civics Honors programming; promote scholarship opportunities.
Maintain an active connection to SCL mission.
Other related responsibilities as assigned.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree and at least five years advising experience at UT Austin. Commitment to SCL mission and to student wellbeing. Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects and priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsAt least ten years advising experience at UT Austin.
Salary$75,000 + depending on qualifications
Working ConditionsMay work around standard office conditions.
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation, use of manual dexterity.
Lift and move standard office files and supplies.
Work hours may include occasional evenings, weekends and some holidays during peak periods to meet deadlines.
The expectation for the position is on-site work.
