If that sounds like you, join us. **Position Summary:** The Assistant Director, Youth Programs is responsible for the creation, implementation, and administration of youth and family programming for Stanford Recreation and Wellness. Specific responsibilities include: management of Camp Cardinal, a comprehensive, 9-week youth summer day camp for over 900 participants on the spectacular Stanford campus; development of innovative and inclusive family friendly activities during the academic year, and special projects related to family and youth. **Your responsibilities will include:** **_Program Management (35%)_** + Implement, administer and evaluate day-to-day operations of youth recreation and wellness program(s); solve problems and make decisions that impact the direction of the programbased on the needs of the Stanford community. + Collect and analyze data, create reports, review and explain trends; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommend curriculum changes to achieve the goals of the youth program. + Lead customer service contact for the program (includes registering 500+ participants); responds to customer concerns and comments. + Ensures the collection, dissemination, and organization of necessary enrollment materials, waiver/assumption of risk forms, and any other required record keeping. + Coordination of youth and family programs including planning and scheduling of facilities, counselor resources, purchasing and maintaining equipment used in programs and quality assurance. + Ensures participant accident reports, employee injury reports, and incidents are maintained and reviewed regularly. Ensures recurring accidents, trends or unusual situations are analyzed and identifies probable causes of each accident and effects change if necessary. + Contribute to the development of marketing materials and strategies + Independently form new relationships and collaborate with various departments across campus for shared initiatives. + Build relationships with schools, daycares, and after-school programs on campus and in neighboring communities. + Work with the events team within the Athletic Department to help solidify and market camps and clinics. + Ensure programs comply with all University andNCAA policies. **_Budget and Administrative Management (20%)_** + Oversee the operating budget for Youth Programs including meeting revenue targets. + Manage online registration and payments. + Manage payroll for contingent staff. + Order and manage equipment inventory for programming. + Collect and provide quarterly and annual program and participant statistics. **_Staff Management (35%)_** + Recruit, select, orient and train, supervise and evaluate staff for all youth programs, events, camps and clinics. + Ensure staff have all the necessary background checks, training and certifications to work with minors. + Schedule and lead staff meetings when appropriate. + Ensures employees are provided, and attend, required safety and staff meetings. **Other (10%)** + Promote youth recreation and wellness programs to individuals through active, ongoing communications including, but not limited to, departmental talks, email distribution, distribution of flyers, website development and participation in fairs. + Represent Recreation and Wellness youth programs to internal and external constituencies through campus events, lectures, presentations, department meetings and professional conferences. + Serve as a resource to other departments regarding youth and family programming. + Other duties may also be assigned in order to successfully meet the expectations of the position. **To be successful in this position, you will bring:** **Education and Experience** + Bachelor's degree required. + Master’s degree preferred. + A minimum of three years of experience in recreation programming and/or youth program development is preferred. **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities** + Experience in youth and recreation programming and/or coachingand knowledge of the requirements to maintain the safety of minors. + Demonstrated ability to develop and meet budget goals. + Knowledge of current risk management practices in recreation settings, business skills necessary to generate revenue and balance budgets, a general understanding of marketing experience and university programming experience. + Experience with MS Office products and database applications. + Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service focus. + Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects. + Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions. + Demonstrated experience working independently,as part of a team, and to direct the work of others. + Demonstrated ability to complete tasks under deadline and possess an attention to detail. + Ability to learn and understand compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations. **Certifications and Licenses** + CPR/AED Certification **PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS** _*_ + Regularly perform desk-based computer tasks. + Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation. + Occasionally use a telephone. + Ability to perform and teach sports and fitness specific skills + Ability to lift 30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. **WORKING CONDITIONS** + Work often takes place in an office setting. + On site management of sport activities at both indoor facilities and outdoor facilities including regular sun exposure in the summer. + Will require some weekends and extended hours due to the nature of the job. **WORK STANDARDS** + Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the ability to work well with Stanford colleagues and clients and with external organizations. + Promote Culture of Safety: Demonstrates commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety; communicates safety concerns; uses and promotes safe behaviors based on training and lessons learned. + Subject to and expected to comply with all applicable University policies and procedures, including but not limited to the personnel policies and other policies found in the University’s Administrative Guide,http://adminguide.stanford.edu/. **DAPER’s Integrity:** This position, along with all DAPER coaches and staff, is responsible for the integrity of Stanford’s intercollegiate athletics program and for the reputation of Stanford University.
