**Custom Job Purpose:**
This position is primarily responsible for the oversight and technical support to the Geographic Information System (GIS), its users and operations along with developing and maintaining GIS databases. Maintaining software licenses and renewal, and installation of software at administrative level. Aids with the district-wide redistricting process including assembling and analyzing social, economic, student populations, and related planning data.
**Essential Functions of this Job**
The role involves troubleshooting GIS system issues and coordinating the maintenance, updating, and downloading of student addresses into the district's GIS system, including geocoding. It ensures updates from Polk County's E-911 department are properly uploaded and maintains the district's master addresses. The position utilizes geospatial data analysis, conversion, and data manipulation with the district's mapping software to produce various geographic maps, such as school attendance zones and facilities maps. It also involves monitoring, collecting, analyzing, and utilizing demographic data for proposed and existing tract developments, and communicating with other departments and public agencies regarding attendance zone boundaries. The role includes attending meetings outside normal work hours, assisting in short- and long-range student growth projections, mapping easements and utility lines on district property, and staying updated on new developments in ESRI's ArcGIS software. Additionally, the position serves as a district liaison to municipalities and other entities, collects and analyzes planning information, maintains files on subdivisions and zoning applications, assists in district growth management plans, provides assistance with special projects, and manages multiple ArcGIS dashboards related to capital improvement projects, concurrency and growth management, and damage assessment.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:**
Good oral and written communication, decision making, critical thinking and organizational skills. Experience with a personal computer, software and internet research. Proficiency with GIS software programs, specifically ArcGIS. Ability to operate unsupervised with general direction. Skilled at maintaining a working relationship with school personnel, architects, engineers, contractors and other governmental agencies. Ability to work independently to carry out assigned tasks. Ability to perform duties with a professional work ethic. Able to maintain confidentiality.
**Education, Experience and/or Certification/License Requirements**
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in Geography, Economics, Urban Planning, Computer Science.
