Position Summary The Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement plays a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant and connected alumni community by cultivating and strengthening relationships with alumni and friends of UNC Greensboro. This individual is responsible for creating and maintaining geographic, identity and affinity-based groups, for identifying, establishing (and maintaining) a volunteer pipeline, fostering alumni relationships and maintaining records for effective volunteer management. They will oversee an array of programs and initiatives, social media and online engagement for Alumni. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree Four years of experience in a professional position, preferably in higher education or related relevant experience. Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with various levels of professionals, internal and external to the organization; including identifying, recruiting, and managing volunteers. Experience with developing, implementing, and evaluating new strategies, programs, initiatives and procedures. Ability to proactively manage several projects at once and set and meet deadlines. Strong oral, written communication, and presentation skills. Ability to travel regionally, work weekends and evenings. Ability to handle a fast-paced and results oriented environment, with the ability to work in a timely manner. Work effectively in a team environment. Proficiency in Microsoft office suite. Experience with social media and online engagement strategies.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates Preferred Qualifications Experience with ERP systems, Banner in particular. Experience with EverTrue or similar donor experience platforms. Develops strategy for all constituent programming (geographic, identity and affinity-based groups). Develops and implements events and initiatives that meet strategic goals of Alumni Engagement. Develops strategy for all constituent programming (geographic, identity and affinity-based groups). Develops and implements events and initiatives that meet strategic goals of Alumni Engagement. Identifies alumni leaders and manages volunteer pipeline to ensure effective representation of UNCG. Responsible for the largest alumni event of the year – Homecoming – which includes both key internal and external stakeholders. Manages Project Coordinator. Percentage Of Time 30 Key Responsibility Volunteer and Event Management Essential Tasks The Assistant Director will provide pre-planning, onsite management, and follow-up of assigned engagement opportunities and programming. This requires frequent, meaningful interaction with alumni, staff, faculty volunteers, students and other partners. Responsible for identifying, recruiting, cultivating and managing volunteers and the volunteer pipeline. This includes providing guidance, training and resources to volunteers to ensure their effectiveness in representing the organization and facilitating programming and initiatives on its behalf. Make meaningful contact with at least 10 alumni/month and maintain accurate records of alumni engagement activities, preferences and interests to inform future engagement strategies and initiatives. Alumni leader identification. Proactively balance several projects at once and will set and meet deadlines to ensure measurable success. Building partnerships with alumni will be critical, therefore regular outreach and communication with key stakeholders will be required. Percentage Of Time 10 Key Responsibility Research and Assessment Essential Tasks The Assistant Director will contribute to research and data analytics to guide effective engagement opportunities and programming. Creates feedback loop; Organizes, assimilates, and analyzes data to determine success metrics and improve initiatives. Research current industry trends to help improve planning and implementation of engaging programs and services. Identify best practices and enhancement opportunities in order to improve current regional/affinity alumni engagement opportunities, programming and cultivation programs.
