Assistant Director of Financial Services

 

Role Mission:

IDEA Public Schools is searching for an Assistant of Financial Services. The Finance Team strives to support the leadership at IDEA as we work together to meet and exceed our ambitious financial and student achievement goals. The Assistant Director of Financial Services will partner with Finance, national, regional, and school teams to increase efficiency and provide a high level of support in meeting shared financial goals. They support with designing the organization-wide professional development programs that all officers and financial managers participate in to become stronger in their role and increase capacity across the network and organization. They support in designing professional learning experiences that reflect fundamental components of IDEA’s point of view on fiduciary responsibility, financial compliance, policy and procedures, annual planning, budget management, and customer service.  They engage frequently with national and regional leaders, lead trainings, coach managers, and finance functional area partners to execute trainings and ensure in-field impact. They also directly support campuses by leading the Regional and National Finance Manager Team which oversees a portfolio of Business Clerks. 

 

Location:

This is a full-time hybrid (part remote/part onsite) position based in Texas, with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.

 

 

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities

 

Essential Duties:

 

Lead the Regional and National Finance Managers

Ensure the Regional and National Finance Managers and Business Clerks are aligned with all finance functional areas.  Establish strong communication channels from Business Clerks through the Business Office Support Services team to Finance leadership. Report on trends seen in the field and current and potential pain points.  Maintain communication matrix for the Finance Team including existing operating mechanisms such as Financial Manager weekly tactical, regional tacticals, Operations Teams convenings, and cascading messages. Ensure all Business Clerks are appropriately onboarded, supported and held accountable to finance policy and procedure. Provide leadership, customer focused, and organizational development.Hire, develop, and manage the Regional and National Finance Managers Coach and develop the Regional and National Finance Managers using multiple methods including peer work sessions, side by side training, weekly check-ins, and campus visits. Effectively establish performance requirements and personal development plans for Regional and National Finance Managers and Business Clerks, continually monitors performance, and coaches for continuous improvement and development.Ensure consistency in Business Office standard operating procedures to ensure compliance. Ensure team efficiency and effectiveness (e.g., conflict/problem resolution, process/system improvements, resource procurement, supportive environment) Ensure Finance Zendesk tickets are responded to on or before the two-business day deadline with a high level of customer service Serve as accountability partner to Finance Teams, research negative feedback from end users to understand root causes and ensure corrective action is put in place, and sample Zendesk ticket threads to ensure the communication tone and level of support meets the finance customer service bar 

 

What You Bring:

 

Required Experience and Certifications: 

Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree in relevant field preferred At least 3 years of experience in finance, professional development design, instructional management or a relevant field 

 

Knowledge and Skills

Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders of varying degrees of analytical understanding  Excellent analytical skills  Constantly searching for and learning more regarding analysis methods and tools  Using initiative and independent judgment within established policy and procedural guidelines  Attention to detail  Excellent mathematical aptitude  Hold ethics and values to high standards 

 

 

What We Offer:


Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between 74,700 and $87,100, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
