Overview JOB SUMMARY The Assistant Director of Human Resources will assist the Regional Director of Human Resources with the overall smooth operation of the Human Resources Department to include, but not limited to recruitment, staffing, retention, training, benefits administration, wage administration, employee relations, discipline, terminations, workers’ compensation and the smooth operation of the HR office in compliance with all company policies, as well as, all federal, state and local legislation. CANDIDATE PROFILE Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably specializing in Hospitality, Business Administration or equivalent experience is required. Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of strong Human Resources experience in a Full-Service Luxury Hotel preferred. Including at least two (2) or more years of Human Resources Leadership experience. KEY RESPONSIBILTIES The primary responsibilities for the Assistant Director of Human Resources include but are not limited to: Workers Comp administration; assist where necessary regarding injury reporting, providing Concentra information to employees, faxing injury report to insurance company and monitoring employee injuries in an effort have the employee return to work either with restricted duty or full duty. Responsible for the day-to-day administration of all benefits including (401(k), Medical, Vision, Dental, LTD, Life & AD&D, HIRD forms, as well as ancillary benefits such as PTO, vacation, sick, holiday etc.) and the answering of questions from employees regarding such. Responsible for the administration of COBRA benefits through Cobra serve for new hires and separations. Administer Leave of Absence, Massachusetts Maternity Leave, FMLA. Responsible for the coordination of “Open Enrollment.” Responsible for the recruitment, interviewing and hiring function for all associates while ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local legislation. This includes conducting background and drug test investigations, preparing new hire paperwork. Assist DOHR with management recruiting from time to time. Responsible for assisting in placing proper advertisements of open positions both internally and externally via bulletin boards, internet, newspapers, etc. Oversee HR Coordinator with screening and logging all applicants into the system for reference and proper record keeping and calling applicants to set up interviews. Ability to maintain proper applicant flow, write/update job descriptions, know various recruiting sources, and the ability to interview effectively is essential. Drive efforts to improve/maintain overall engagement of the workforce – develop and motivate others. Assist DOHR with the planning and implementation of employee functions. Assist DOHR with the coordination of all separations/terminations (i.e.; termination of all benefits, COBRA, Life Insurance conversion, Unemployment, Exit Interview, 401(k), etc). Maintain department budget and costs according to budget Approve benefit invoices and forward them to accounting for payment Submit employee information as requested by USC. Actively participate and co-chair monthly Safety Committee meetings with the Director of Security. To keep informed and up to date in all aspects of your job responsibilities Assist with maintenance of personnel files Assist with performing/overseeing audits regarding I-9, tax forms etc. Qualifications JOB QUALIFICATIONS In addition to performance of key responsibilities and supportive functions, this position may be required to possess a combination of the following skills and experiences: Strong organizational and analytical skills, along with demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment. Demonstrated ability to work with maximum efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail. Must have experience in all Microsoft Office and industry relevant HRIS systems. Ability to work effectively in Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets regularly Demonstrated ability to work cohesively with a team. Ability to exercise sound logic and judgment in evaluating situations and utilizing appropriate resources. Must be self-directed, motivated and demonstrate exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
