Job Description

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness (OIRE), the Assistant Director of Institutional Effectiveness provides leadership and expertise to support the core operational assessment activities of the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness as well as collaborate with the Associate Provost for Academic Programs and Assessment on university-wide assessment, strategic planning, program evaluations, and accreditation projects.

This position supports all internal and external assessment reporting and is responsible for collaborating with all non-academic departments/units to develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive assessment and evaluation strategy. The Assistant Director of Institutional Effectiveness manages assigned survey projects, conducts data analyses, and reports assessment results to support data-driven decision making and effective assessment practices within all administrative divisions.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead all assessment activities coordinated by the Office of Institutional Research & Effectiveness (OIRE) and support assessment and accreditation activities across the university for all non-academic departments/units in collaboration with the Associate Provost for Academic Programs and Assessment.

Ensure compliance with Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) accreditation standards, and maintain repository platforms of all assessment plans, related implementation activities, and progress towards achieving assessment goals.

Lead the administration, research and reporting related to all university-wide survey initiatives such as the national survey of student engagement (NSSE), faculty survey of student engagement survey (FSSE), First-Year experience survey, and all course evaluation projects administered by the Office of Institutional Research & Effectiveness.

Manage the course evaluation platform (Watermark) and create custom reports for all stakeholders. Organize all assessment and accreditation data into digital format using an assessment and accountability documentation data system (Nuventive).

Coordinate all OIRE surveys (external and internal) including collaborating with other university staff to design, administer, analyze and distribute survey results, including developing descriptive and predictive statistical models utilizing survey and student data to support decision making and planning activities.

Stay current with assessment tools and technologies, including exploring innovative methods for assessment and evaluation and recommend their implementation as appropriate.

Collaborate with OIRE staff to develop appropriate documentation and data dictionary, collection timelines, storage standards and standardized reporting for all assessment projects.

Create ad-hoc reports as needed to support decision-making, goal setting, assessment, and strategic planning across division.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in education, social science, business, or related field.

A minimum of four years of experience in assessment, program evaluation, strategic planning, or institutional research at a postsecondary institution.

Experience with assessment and accountability documentation with data systems, such as Nuventive.

PREFERRED:

Doctoral degree in Education with emphases in measurement and statistics, psychometrics, or program evaluation.

Experience with large database, quantitative analytical tools, including any of the following: SPSS, SAS, SQL, R and Python.

Proficient in using Watermark for course evaluation.

Proficient in using Qualtrics or other online survey tools.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
