No If Temporary, enter End Date: Position Summary This full-time, full-year professional position develops, plans, schedules, facilitates, promotes, and evaluates educational programming related to multicultural life, diversity, equity, inclusion, social justice, access, retention, cultural awareness, and community building. This position will provide direct student support related to educating the campus about diversity and inclusion and support underrepresented students on campus. This position requires working nights and weekends as needed.  This position will serve in place of the director when they are not in the office. Major Responsibilities Programming and Workshops Plan, schedule, assess and facilitate programs and workshops for students, faculty and staff working collaboratively in support of the Multicultural Life and Diversity Office (MLDO) mission

Annual Kente CelebrationServe as the co-chair for the Kente Committee, including administration of the Kente CelebrationVoice Office Serve as main point of contact with Voice Office organizations Hold bi-weekly meetings with Voice Office representatives Coordinate joint Voice Office programming Public Relations and promotions Edit, coordinate and implement department newsletter each semester Coordinate social media initiatives with Public Relations student intern Edit and maintain the MLDO website Facilitate COR 101 presentations and ally development workshops with other MLDO staff and volunteers Attend and support student programming including but not limited to evening and weekend programs such as the Voice Office events, late night events, Diversity Conference, trips, meetings and events hosted by student organizations Supervision ResponsibilitiesSupervise MLDO Program Coordinator- Meet regularly with the Program Coordinator to support them in their role and professional development, approve timesheets, and set up and evaluate their performance programCo-supervise student interns and volunteers- Meet regularly with interns to support and follow up on their tasks, create internship job descriptions, complete internship paperwork, and evaluate intern performance and contributionAssessmentAssist with measuring the effectiveness of strategic initiatives within Student Affairs, such as co-curricular learning and student engagement. Projects vary from year to year and will include assisting with the assessment of direct student learning outcomes of MLDO programmingService to Campus CommunityServe on committees, councils or working groups where representation of MLDO is important to help serve students of historically marginalized populationsProfessional Development and Collaboration Maintain up to date knowledge on student affairs and higher education trends that relate to diversity, equity, and inclusion Attend professional development opportunities as resources allow Build and maintain relationships with on-campus and off-campus stakeholders
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability and willingness to work outside normal office hours, nights and weekends Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Strong organizational skills Ability to work independently and as a team Ability to work at a fast pace and handle spontaneous reprioritization of work demands Desire and commitment to working with a diverse student populations and demonstrated multicultural competence Demonstrated skills utilizing various computer applications such as Microsoft Suite Functional and Supervisory Relationships This position reports directly to the Director of Multicultural Life and Diversity Office (MLDO) and will supervise the MLDO Program Coordinator. This position is expected to collaborate broadly across the institution with other offices, departments, and student groups. Within the MLDO, specific staff will take lead on projects but will work collaboratively to support one another in all that the office does.
