Founded in 1906, McLeod Health is a locally owned and managed, not for profit organization supported by the strength of more than 900 members on its medical staff and more than 2,900 licensed nurses. McLeod Health is also composed of approximately 15,000 team members and more than 90 physician practices throughout its 18-county service area. With seven hospitals, McLeod Health operates three Health and Fitness Centers, a Sports Medicine and Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, Hospice and Home Health Services. The system currently has 988 licensed beds, including Hospice and Behavioral Health. The hospitals within McLeod Health include: McLeod Regional Medical Center, McLeod Health Dillon, McLeod Health Loris, McLeod Health Seacoast, McLeod Health Cheraw, McLeod Health Clarendon and McLeod Behavioral Health.  

Essential Function

Shall demonstrate leadership and commitment with respect to the quality management system. Assist with recruiting, interviewing and selecting staff for professional care area, and maintain direct lines of communication with recruiter.  Conducts timely evaluations for staff members of the Emergency Department (ED). Assist staff in setting and reviewing goals.  Provides a climate for staff in which they can seek out and assist Director for feedback or to voice concerns or receive information.  Keep administration and director informed of activities and problems. Assist with developing, implements, and reviews an ongoing education plan for staff but not limited to the ED. Acts as liaison with medical staff to coordinate patient care.  Plans individualized nursing care to meet the holistic age specific needs of patients in, but not limited to the Emergency Department (ED). Serves as a clinical expert, primarily on the ED, by keeping current with evidenced based practice, literature review and educational offerings.  Fosters an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion, and respect for patients, families, and visitors.  Supervises and monitors the interdisciplinary care of the patient in, but not limited to the ED.  Competently performs Clinical Management duties in maintaining an organized workflow and open communication including compliance with: core measures, clinical effectiveness initiatives, never event reduction and improving patient outcomes as identified.  This will be demonstrated through, but not limited to: Independent Policy Review, Assigned Leadership Classes, Access Control Application for the ED, Identifying and Accessing Resources for the ED Ensures compliance with established ED standards, policies, and specific standards of care.  Under the supervision of the Director, the Clinical Nurse Manager mentors, clinically develops and evaluates staff who perform nursing care specific to the ED, but not limited to (Nursing, MST, and Secretary Competencies) Able to develop and operationalize their communicated direction and the objectives of the immediate supervisor. Continuously assesses the clinical environment of the ED to identify performance improvement opportunities:  Rounds daily on patients with high risk for hospital acquired conditions for preventative measures, educates staff of new quality initiatives, takes call every other weekend and staff per unit needs Encourages and facilitates use of appropriate health and safety equipment to protect both patient and staff while making clinical rounds. Demonstrates continued professional growth.  Performs all other duties as they relate to this position.

Qualifications/Training

Minimum 3 years of nursing experience

Licenses and/or Certifications

Must possess a valid SC RN license, BLS, ACLS, PALS NIHSS and CPI within 6 months of hire.
