This full-time Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)/ Infection Preventionist (IP) position starts at $70,000 annually for minimal experience. The schedule is primarily between 8a-5p Monday-Friday, approximately 40 hours per week, but evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays may be periodically required as part of a shared call rotation and to address urgent department needs. We do annual raises based on budget capacity, and you also have the opportunity for a discretionary bonus at your anniversary.

What does the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)/IP do at On With Life?
Under the direction of the DON and Skilled Administrator, and in partnership with the Medical Director, the ADON/IP:
+ Assists the DON in identifying, planning, coordinating and monitoring services meeting the nursing care needs of up to 40 persons served who have sustained a brain injury or other neurologic condition
+ Supports the DON in overseeing direct-care Nurses, Certified Nurse Assistants, and support staff in the Nursing department
+ Works closely with the Social Services, Therapy, and Environmental teams as well as external resources to ensure well-coordinated, safe, efficient, and effective services for persons served
+ Assists the DON in ensuring departmental compliance with State and Federal nursing long-term care regulations
+ Understanding and complying with infection control procedures and regulations.
+ Partnering with the Medical Provider to develop, implement and evaluate annual infection prevention goals and action plans
+ Partnering with facility leaders, physicians, local, state, and national agencies on activities related to infection prevention
+ Overseeing the operations of the infection prevention, epidemiology, industrial hygiene, and relevant safety programs
+ Managing surveillance and reporting of healthcare-acquired and community-acquired infections
+ Participating in national collaboratives and external reporting to the CDC NHSN system, IDPH, and quality organizations specific to post-acute care
+ Authority and responsibility for ensuring appropriate intervention and education occurs with staff, volunteers and medical staff when healthcare infection trends, outbreaks or non-compliance to infection control are identified
+ Maintaining current knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and ensuring that the facility leaders are informed of relevant issues
+ Participates in departmental Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement initiative
+ Provides competent direct nursing care to person served as necessary

+ Has 5 years of Nursing experience with 2 years of leadership or management experience preferred
+ Previous neuro experience preferred
Qualified applicants must have:
+ Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Iowa
+ Ability to maintain CPR certification (if you do not have this already, we will pay for it)
+ Infection Control Nurse certification (can obtain during the orientation process)
