The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the nursing department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. The Assistant Director of Nursing will also assist in ensuring that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.
Responsibilities: Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the nursing department, its programs, and activities. Assist in developing and maintaining nursing service objectives, standards of nursing practice, and the nursing policies and procedures manual. Assist in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of nursing personnel. Assist in the development and implementation of nursing care plans and the coordination of nursing care with other resident services. Assist in the development and implementation of resident care policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of infection control policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of quality assurance programs. Assist in the development and implementation of staff development programs. Assist in the development and implementation of resident and family education programs. Assist in the development and implementation of discharge planning and follow-up care. Assist in the development and implementation of resident assessment and care planning. Assist in the development and implementation of resident rights policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of resident safety policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of emergency preparedness policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of medication management policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of pain management policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of wound care policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of fall prevention policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of restraint reduction policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of behavior management policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of nutrition and hydration policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of infection control policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of staff scheduling and staffing policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of budgetary and fiscal policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of resident and family satisfaction surveys. Assist in the development and implementation of staff performance evaluations. Assist in the development and implementation of corrective action plans. Assist in the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of compliance policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of accreditation and licensure policies and procedures.
