Farmingdale State College seeks a student-centered professional to manage and provide administrative and developmental support for approximately three residence halls with approximately 600 students. Farmingdale's residence halls offer suite-style and traditional corridor-type double and single rooms.
The Assistant Director of Residence Life is pivotal in fostering a safe, developmental, inclusive community that supports students' success and personal development. The Assistant Director will establish and implement short and long-term goals and objectives, supervise, train, and develop approximately 3-4 professional staff members, and monitor and evaluate programmatic initiatives, policies, and operating procedures.
This position is a 12-month, full-time, live-in position.
Responsibilities include:
Administrative Leadership
+ Lead the supervision, development, and evaluation of 3-4 Residence Hall Directors and indirect supervision of approximately 20 paraprofessional staff members.
+ Advise Residence Hall Directors and Resident Assistants for small and large-scale programming initiatives.
+ Serve as a liaison to facilities and custodial staff for building and work order concerns.
+ Responsible for the coordination and implementation of Resident Assistant Recruitment and Selection.
+ Lead Resident Assistant recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes.
+ Development and implementation of Resident Assistant training, in-services, and leadership training.
+ Ongoing review and improvements of the Resident Assistant Handbook, crisis protocols, and Residence Life Handbook.
+ Manage departmental programming budget.
Conduct Management and Crisis Response
+ Enforcement of the FSC Student and Residential Code of Conduct.
+ Management of the Student Conduct system for the residential student population.
+ Serve as an administrative hearing officer to adjudicate student conduct violations and foster restorative practices that promote accountability and personal growth.
+ Serve in the on-call rotation to provide emergency support during after-hours emergencies, weekends, and holidays.
Community Engagement
+ Advise paraprofessional and professional staff members on small-scale and large-scale programming initiatives for the residential population.
+ Collaborate with departments to enhance programmatic efforts for the campus population.
+ Partnership with college prevention specialists to provide educational outreach and programming to the residential student population.
+ Implementation of assessment practices to understand the needs of the residential student population.
+ Oversee the First Year Living Learning Community for all first-year residential students.
+ Represent the department on college committees.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor's Degree.
+ Three (3) years of full-time residence life and housing experience.
+ Experience with supervising, developing and advising professional staff members.
+ Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an equitable and inclusive living and learning environment.
+ Established proficiency in operational assessment best practices.
+ Experience managing campus safety protocols, student conduct, and related reporting duties and record retention requirements.
+ Proven experience in developing and managing departmental budgets.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Master's Degree.
+ Experience with eRezlife Housing Software.
+ Knowledge and/or experience working with Living Learning Communities.
+ Experience with Banner Software.
+ Knowledge of student conduct issues and best practices.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time UUP position.
+ For the first 10 working days, beginning Friday, January 17, 2025, and ending Thursday, January 30, 2025, applications will be limited to UUP Farmingdale.
+ CLOSING DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS: Open Until Filled
+ SALARY: $65,000 + $3,400 in downstate location pay = $68,400 Total Compensation. Salary may increase commensurate with experience.
