Assistant Director of Stakeholder Engagement
Job Title: Assistant Director of Stakeholder Engagement Department: Strategy and Grant Management (988) Reports to: Director of Cross Functional Planning Location: Remote with 25% travel Salary range: $100K to $120K* *New hires are typically brought into the organization between the minimum to midpoint of the salary range posted depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. This role is endowed/subsidized through June 2025, with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding. Administered by Vibrant and funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration, the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides free and confidential emotional support and crisis counseling to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States. The 988 Suicide& Crisis Lifeline comprises a national network of more than 200 local crisis contact centers, uniting local resources with national best practices. As an easy-to-remember, universal number for people to contact when they experience a suicidal or behavioral health crisis, 988 will improve access nationwide to the vital crisis services. Position Overview: The Assistant Director of Stakeholder Engagement is responsible for communication across key stakeholders in the 988 Ecosystem (States, Crisis Centers, National Leaders, Underserved communities etc.). This individual works with all sub-verticals to create and implement SLAs around communication pertaining to 988. This individual will have a finger on the pulse of all key relationships and partnerships. They will work to deepen internal tracking of sentiment and needs across the 988 system. They partner with other department heads to maintain a cohesive business model with all internal and external stakeholders. They understand the full scope of all projects in their department and are the face of the department. The Assistant Director of Stakeholder Engagement is responsible for key metrics (driven by the duties described below) related to 1) Measured “temperature” from various stakeholders pertaining to the work of Vibrant, 2) Strategy for engagement with stakeholders and implementation of said strategy, and 3) Guidance and tracking of all communication and stakeholder requests for information and data out of the 988 Office. Duties/Responsibilities: + Manage stakeholder mapping, prepare communications to stakeholders in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team + Develop and implement a process to respond to and track stakeholder enquiries and requests for information. + Manage stakeholder engagement coordinators, providing guidance and directing their workload activities to ensure timescales and requirements are met. + Create key documents and distribute throughout the network with ongoing impact monitoring + Establish and maintain new relationships with key partners + Create SLAs for engaging with stakeholders curated based on the partner needs + Manage and maintain state relationships while tracking the policy needs and changes happening in that state + Ensure all team members track contacts and communications with stakeholders + Develop stakeholder engagement reporting and heatmaps to guide outreach and communication strategies + Manage the “customer service” orientation of 988 - ensure that all staff is trained in and engaging in the new 988 model of service orientation towards our stakeholders + Be prepared to step in as a key leader in external facing events + Responsible for directly managing and/or mentoring all junior staff within their department. + Support Vibrant culture through leadership integrity, transparent communication, and the demonstration of all Vibrant core values. + Develop strategy as it relates to Vibrant’s infrastructure (this is specific to IT, Operations, and Project Management positions). + Identifying vulnerabilities within Vibrant’s current work flow and suggesting realistic solutions. Required Skills Qualifications Required: + Experience with communication or stakeholder management and engagement + Requires a Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated experience in the field (5+ years) + Up to 25% travel required Preferred: + Experience with Salesforce, Asana, Jira, OneDrive, Google Drive + Familiarity with the crisis continuum, mental health work, crisis centers + Familiarity with communication strategies + Strong written capabilities + Experience working with executives up to the C-suite level regularly. Provide ongoing insights into analytics. Oversee all invoices relevant to the department. Manage all Kissflow activity for the department. Decision Making + Identifies risk within the department and determines best practice solutions. + Decisions have moderate to significant impact, requiring consultation with internal management, coalition partners and vendors to determine appropriate solutions. + Consults with other members of senior staff on short-term and long-term projects and is the lead on all implementations. + May be consulted or have approval authority for solutions proposed by peers or subordinate staff. + Complex decision-making requiring in-depth analysis and consensus-building, subject to review by other members of senior management. Scope of Responsibility/Accountability: + Oversees all projects within their department. + Recommends policies and procedures to guide program or departmental performance. + Performance is monitored by other members of senior management. Managing/Directing Work: + Establishes work objectives and standards in support of program or operational goals. + Monitors and conducts formal assessments of their team. + Recommends new or modified systems or processes to increase effectiveness. Job Knowledge + Ability to blend analysis, knowledge, and insights to effectively enhance personal and organizational performance. + Ability to not only lead a team but encourage and cultivate a positive work environment. + Applies detailed knowledge of professional principles to their management skills. Physical Abilities • This is a remote position that requires extended periods of sitting, video-based meetings, and computer-based work.
