Job Title Assistant Director of Student Success and Advising Posting Number F006311 Position Status Full Time Assignment Length Not Applicable Grant Funded No Category APT Class Code 13 Starting Pay $78,664 Special Note Commensurate with education and experience Location Trinity River Department TR Student Success & Advising Job Summary Reporting to the Director of Student Success and Advising, the Assistant Director of Student Success and Advising is responsible for developing and implementing district and campus strategies, procedures, and services related to academic advising and student support services on campus. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Essential Performance Requirements* Coordinates retention initiatives and programs including early alert and other student success efforts Manages and supervises office and staff as delegated by the Director, including scheduling staff, planning, and implementing regular staff meetings and communications Assists with Advising Case Management, including documentation of advisor and success coach assignments and visits Assists with educational case management for students on academic success plans, which includes students on academic and financial aid suspension Assists with developing and implementing student success training and training materials


General Supervision and Management Provides leadership for all employees, office administration, and program management Assists with ongoing professional staff development, including teamwork, leadership, and communication skills
Service Excellence Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC) Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
Supervision Works under the general supervision of the Director of Student Success and Advising

Required Minimum Qualifications Master’s Degree Three (3) years’ working experience related to the Essential Performance Requirements Two (2) years’ experience supervising (e.g., managing, evaluating the performance of others) Preferred Qualifications Doctorate degree in Higher Education Administration or Student Affairs At least one (1) year’s working experience at a community college related to the Essential Performance Requirements At least two (2) years’ working experience with student success initiatives, such as retention and persistence programming, in a higher education setting At least two (2) years’ working experience in program evaluation and assessment, with a focus on using data to drive decisions that improve educational outcomes Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of theories of student development, student engagement, student success, academic advising, and career development Knowledge of current practices in student affairs and higher education to include proper methods and resources for compliance, disabilities covered under ADA, student disciplinary actions, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Knowledge of strategic enrollment management principles and best practices in student affairs Skilled in excellent customer service and interpersonal relationships Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicate problems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work are varied, and unpredictable in scope and volume Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations based on policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations Ability to delegate work appropriately to faculty and staff to meet College and campus deliverables Physical Demands and Work Environment Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
