Job Overview:

RWJBH is seeking a highly dedicated Assistant Director Patient Care for our Pediatrics II Department. The Nurse Manager is a registered professional nurse who under the direction of the Nursing Director coordinates available resources to efficiently and effectively provide professional nursing care of a quality consistent with the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Standards of Care to the patients assigned to his/her unit. The Nurse Manager demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to make decisions regarding the provision of age-appropriate care for the unit s patient population.

Qualifications:

Required:

BSNAt least 1-3 years relative clinical practiceStrong communication, organizational skills, and presentation skillsProficient computer skills

Preferred:

BSN exception may be made if candidate meets other requirements and is actively pursuing a bachelor s degree; the completion of the degree is expected within 5 years of acceptance of the position.National certification for clinical specialty Previous leadership experience highly preferred

Certifications and Licenses Required:

BLS and ACLS CertificationPALSActive New Jersey Registered Nurse License

Facilitates the safe and effective functioning of the unit as demonstrated byInterviewing and hiring unlicensed personnelInterviewing and hiring licensed personnel in collaboration with Nursing DirectorFacilitates the orientation process for new employees as demonstrated byMaking assignments that maintain preceptor-orientee relationship.Working the preceptor-orientee to solve any problemsEnsuring that orientees complete the unit-based orientation within an appropriate individualized time frameContributes to the professional growth and development of staff byContinuously assessing patient care to evaluate staff knowledge and patterns of performanceCounseling staff on identified areas for improvementEvaluating the staff performance as demonstrated by the completion of the performance evaluation in a timely mannerCounseling and implementing appropriate disciplinary actionPlanning/coordinating unit based education programs as identified by unit needsConsiders staff participation in safety/quality initiatives when completing employee performance appraisals
