This posting is for an Engineer I position that will function as the Assistant District Engineer for Division 9, District 1 Office. Position is primarily responsible for the coordination, review, and approval of technical plans and drawings relating to driveway permit applications, utility encroachment requests/agreements, subdivision design plans and standards, process for road additions, and the supervision of subordinate employees. This position will perform field inspections and prepare deficiency letters as it relates to road additions and onsite inspections for compliance with NCDOT specifications for driveway permits, encroachments, and subdivisions. This position will also work closely with the construction staff to administer and manage construction projects. Other duties will include but are not limited to performing project field inspections, preparing monthly/final pay estimates, creating, reviewing, and evaluating supplemental agreements and claims, ensuring compliance with both NCDOT and external environmental agency erosion control and permit requirements, resolving constructability issues, and serving as DOT project representative for formal and informal meetings with contractors, utilities, local officials, media, and the public.
