Arcadis are looking for a new Assistant driller / Site Labourer to be based from our Thornbury facility. The position will involve working throughout the UK across a variety of sites and sectors including manufacturing, petrochemical, and construction environments.
Whilst beneficial, no previous experience in land drilling is necessary as this is an entry-level role with great scope for promotion through to lead driller in the future, this role requires someone who enjoys working outside in a wide variety of site environments.
The role will require you to travel to sites across the UK during the working week and stay local to the drilling site Monday-Friday. PPE and Single Accommodation/Travel expenses will be provided.
Please note that, although the majority of work will be away, daily commuting to the depot will be required; therefore, the successful candidate will reside within a reasonable commute from Thornbury.
Role accountabilities: As an Assistant Driller, you will operate in a two-person team supporting the Lead Driller to complete drilling projects across the UK and occasionally in Europe. This will include driving to the drilling site, setting up and advancing boreholes using installing a range of drilling equipment, collecting ground samples, installing & monitoring of equipment, making the drilling site work areas safe, following H&S procedures, and other ad hoc duties. You will receive training from day one to become a competent Assistant Driller and will be enrolled in/on an NVQ on completion of your probationary period.For those wishing to progress further in-house training, apprenticeships, and NVQ's in Land Drilling and receive training from day one will be available to allow you to work towards becoming a qualified Lead Driller.
Qualifications & Experience: You must be a motivated person, who enjoys hands-on, outdoor jobs. A background of education or working in a labour-intensive role such as ex-military, construction, or agriculture would be advantageous. A driving license is essential. Ability to stay away from home Monday-Friday. Single occupancy accommodation, Travel and Food allowance will be provided. Basic IT Skills The following competencies/accreditations would be beneficial: CSCS, SPA/PIA, Personal Track Safety (PTS) but if not held the required training will be provided in any event by Arcadis.Why Arcadis?
