Assistant Ecologist / Ecologist

At AtkinsRéalis, our team of ecologists work throughout the UK to deliver a diverse range of challenging and exciting projects that benefit our clients, biodiversity and society.

To meet our growing project workload, we are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Ecologist or Ecologist to join our Bristol office and the South West region. The ideal candidate would be looking to work in a hybrid manner undertaking surveys across the South West (and occasionally into South Wales) and also collaborate with the Bristol Ecology Team, and other disciplines, in the office.

Joining us, you will have the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant and high-profile projects, with many of our projects winning awards for biodiversity enhancements, innovation, and knowledge sharing. Our ecology team also won the inaugural CIEEM Large-Scale Consultancy of the Year Award in 2018 and has been highly commended in the same award category each year thereafter.

What you will be doing:

Providing ecological support to a varied range of projects across different sectors.Planning, co-ordinating and undertaking a range of field surveys.Analysing and interpreting survey results using approaches such as biodiversity net gain or natural capital.Authoring ecological reports and licence applications.Assisting with bid preparation and building client relationships.Collaborating with internal AtkinsRéalis multi-disciplinary teams and undertaking stakeholder engagement.

About you:

Ideally, you would have the following attributes / qualifications / memberships:

Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or an application in process (AtkinsRéalis to cover membership costs).A degree or masters in ecology or closely related field.Demonstrable ecological knowledge.Experience in UK Habitat surveys and/or Biodiversity Net Gain is desirable but not essential.A full, clean driving licence.
