Assistant Electrical Engineer II
Summary

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing electrical engineering support to all New York Power Authority generating plant and transmission substations throughout the State of New York. #LI-AE1

Responsibilities Assist senior staff and supervisor on a full range of electric utility design modification projects, equipment applications and failure research, engineering studies, as well as operations and maintenance activities. Assist in the administration on-site technical support. Ensure deadlines are met as assigned by supervisors. Assist in the coordination of work with other disciplines and departments for the successful development and execution of projects. Gather information (site, vendors and other engineers) for engineering tasks. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated basic competencies in the analysis, design and integration of electrical systems.  Fundamental knowledge of power system concepts Basic understanding of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.  Education, Experience and Certifications Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university Good understanding of power system theory preferred. Exposure to electric utility industry preferred. Physical Requirements Approximately 25% travel, primarily within NY State Willingness to enter confined spaces and climb/scale power system apparatuses is required.

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is: $77,560 - $116,340. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
