Responsible for all aspects of daily care of horses and maintaining the stable premises. General assistance to the Equestrian Director, office and administrative duties as needed, light veterinary work, programming from clinics, shows, summer camps, off site-and on-site excursions, handling a variety of horses in a daily matter in all weather conditions, managing equestrian retail store, able to instruct lower-level English style lessons.
Essential Job Functions:

• Able to efficiently follow directions and effectively explain tasks to others.
• Lifts 50-lbs regularly, more weight occasionally and able to work in all weather conditions year round including holidays and weekends.
• Provides all aspects of horse care such as feeding, stall cleaning, turnout, and grooming.
• Ability to identify and treat basic illness, or injury, and behavioral situations in a safe and professional manner, following the instructions of the Equestrian Director and veterinarian.
• Maintains equestrian center, pastures, and horse stall areas.
• Greets customers and members with a positive, helpful attitude.
• Prepares horses for rides.
• Conducts pony rides.
• Assists Equestrian Director in the daily care of all horses in ride program.
• Exercise/riding on an as needed basis.
• May drive truck, tractor, any equipment and horse trailer when needed.
• Manages farrier schedule
• Maintains office duties to include schedule keeping, billing using POS system, invoice processing, and any other tasks as needed
• Notifies Equestrian Director of needed supplies (feed, medication, etc.) and places orders as requested
• Conducts inventory monthly for equestrian retail store in conjunction with Equestrian Director
• Maintains retail store weekly and utilizes Jonas software to create SKUs, receive products into inventory, print product labels, and conduct sales
• May run errands as deemed necessary.
• Help with the setup, planning, execution, and tear down of all Equestrian Center programing.
• Completes all other duties as assigned by Equestrian Director
• Able to properly manage the facility when the Equestrian Director is away on scheduled member retreats
• Must maintain the policy of this company to conduct operations in a manner that will prevent injuries to people and damage to property and equipment and that will comply with all applicable regulations for safety and health.
• Promote and adhere to standards set by Oldfield Club/Troon.
Job Requirements:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 5 years horse husbandry, and handling skills in a professional equestrian environment with English style instruction experience with work references.
• Knowledge of equine and human first aid.
• Ability to recognize a sick or lame horse.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion, following instructions completely with attention to detail.
• Interaction with members, guests and co-workers must be on a professional, and friendly level at all times.
• Must speak fluent English and possess excellent communication skills.
• Minimum high school education or equivalent.
• Mandatory equine experience and suggested hospitality experience.
• Demonstrated experience in interactions with members and guests.
• Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with interruptions, changes and delays while meeting daily deadlines.
• Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully on own and with a team.
• Reliable transportation
• Valid SC license
• Be able to pass drug test.
• Must be able to remain calm, think clearly and act quickly in emergencies.
Equipment to be used: Vehicle, farm equipment, routine equine tools and equipment, and routine office equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Capable of working extended hours, to include weekends, nights and holidays.
• Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing.
• Frequent need to perform standing and walking activities. Position involves walking, standing and/or movement throughout the day.
• Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity.
• Frequent need to stand for long periods.
• Position may involve riding, exercising and/or lunging of horses.
• Lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. frequently and 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Vision requirements: constant need to view small, faint or partially obscured print, with corrective lenses as needed. Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach.
• Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on telephone, respond to and converse with all types of people. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.
• Working environment is both indoors and outdoors. Must be able to perform all job duties in all types of weather conditions.
