Description of Work Unit
The Colorado State University Department of Athletics sponsors 16 men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports and competes as a member of the NCAA Division I- FBS . The University is a current member of the Mountain West Conference and future member of the Pac-12 Conference. The University is located in Fort Collins, Colorado, 65 miles north of Denver. Position Summary
Under the direction of the Head Equipment Manager, Olympic Sports, the position is responsible for assisting with the management and oversight of the equipment operations for 15 men’s and women’s sports competing as members of NCAA DI- FBS and the Mountain West Conference.
Required Job Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Marketing, Management, HPER , HES , Sports Management, Recreation, Education, Economics, Liberal Arts, Communications, Sociology or any other field related to responsibilities and duties.
+ Minimum of 2 years of experience in a collegiate athletic equipment room; comparable experience in a professional sports league will be taken into consideration.
+ Current Certification by the Athletic Equipment Manager’s Association ( AEMA ) required, including good standing within the AEMA , or must have the ability to become certified within 18 months of employment.
+ Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required, preferably NCAA Division I.
+ Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively across a broad spectrum of constituents.
+ Ability to effectively convey ideas and information in a variety of written, electronic and verbal forms.
+ Outstanding problem-solving skills including the use of key tools such as critical thinking, deductive reasoning, logic and creativity including the ability to apply this knowledge to real world applications.
+ Strong computer skills including a complete working understanding of the most commonly used Microsoft Office Suite applications and programs.
+ Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.
+ The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the time of hire. The department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.
Preferred Job Qualifications
+ Experience with a computerized inventory system such as JumpForward, ACS or similar system.
+ Experience serving as the direct equipment liaison to multiple sport programs at one time.

+ Assists with management of over $3M annually in property, equipment and uniforms including the direct purchase of equipment, goods and services
+ Collaborate with sport coaches and other key personnel to insure budgetary oversight with adherence to equipment budgets for Olympic Sports and others areas of the department and the administration, including disbursement of allocations from sponsoring vendors (Under Armour, etc.)
+ Aid in the implementation, management and maintenance of inventory control systems; track all transactions for accounting, budgeting and auditing purposes; reconcile invoices, payments and statements including allotments
+ Place orders directly with vendors on behalf of assigned sports, in conformity with University, state and NCAA regulations
+ Contribute towards the management of Under Armour allotments for 15 Olympic Sports
+ Set-up and troubleshoot Under Armour VIP accounts for coaches and staff
+ Develop and maintain professional communication channels with all constituency groups to ensure smooth operation of the unit, including Sport Administrators, head coaches, executive staff
+ Be responsible for the maintenance, issue and return of equipment and apparel for assigned sports
+ Comply with all audits including annual internal audits and controls
+ Assist with recruiting efforts as determined by coaching staffs when applicable
+ Be responsible for maintaining records of all departmental donations involving equipment and apparel
+ Comply with State and University controls for the disposal of surplus and obsolete property
+ Ensure that student-athletes adhere to NCAA , Conference and Departmental policies in regards to retention of equipment and apparel

+ Advise other constituents and customers regarding applicable regulations
+ Be knowledgeable of all uniform and safety restrictions and guidelines as set forth by the playing rules of 15 Olympic Sports, the NCAA , the Conference and other governing bodies
+ Ensure that coaches are compliant with appropriate regulations when approving new designs and placing orders
+ Ensure compliance with NCAA regulations for 15 Olympic Sports regarding when uniforms and equipment can be issued, what alterations are permitted, what restrictions apply to logo and branding size and placement, what items can be retained by athletes and what modifications, if any, can be made based on injury and/or safety concerns
+ Ensure compliance with NCAA regulations for coaching attire
+ Maintain AEMA certification, including on-going educational requirements, and maintain good standing with the Association
+ Maintain proficiency in fitting and ordering equipment in accordance with each individual athlete’s needs and industry and NCAA recommended safety standards and best practices
