Summary This position is located at the Fryar Fitness Center on Fort Wainwright, Alaska. 25% Recruitment or Relocation and/or a Retention incentive may be authorized. Eligible for 1.69% COLA. Responsibilities Oversees the inventory of property; fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate. Assists in the development of budgetary and manpower requirements and recommends adjustments due to changes in program demands or hours of operation. Oversees facility cleanliness contracts and standard operating procedures. Assists with the scheduling and outreach of organizational units at the facility to include intramural sports (plans, develops, coordinates, organizes, schedules, publicizes, directs, etc). Assist in the publicizing sports facilities, programs and events by drafting articles for local newspapers and as instructed by supervisor coordinates with marketing for posters, flyers and other promotional material. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Possesses directly related work experience in planning, supervising, administering or carrying out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports. The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. Highly Preferred: Candidates that possess highly preferred criteria and meet the minimum qualifications above will be referred to the hiring manager first. Possess 2 years experience working for FMWR Possess 1 year experience supervising a sports/fitness program Experience working in an ice rink Experience in fitness equipment procurement and life cycle replacement Experience with an annual operating budget Experience scheduling personnel Possess a combination of education (an undergraduate in related fields such as physical education or kinesiology) and work experience as identified above Possession of a nationally identified Basic Fitness Trainer Certification Education Additional Information Area of Consideration: The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is WORLDWIDE. Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials This is a pay-banded position. Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives may be paid but are not guaranteed. 25% Recruitment or Relocation and/or a Retention incentive may be authorized. Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will be paid, contingent upon eligibility. Eligible for 1.69% COLA.
