Position Overview & Responsibilities:\n

The Assistant Feed Mill Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating feed mill operations during their assigned shift. This role ensures efficient production of high-quality feed products, adherence to safety and quality standards and smooth operations of machinery and equipment. The Assistant Feed Mill Manager acts as the primary point of contact for shift staff, providing guidance, support and oversight to ensure optimal performance and productivity. The Assistant Feed Mill Manager will also provide general support to and serve as the point of contact in the absence of the Feed Mill Plant Manager. \n

Major Areas of Accountability:\n

ASSIST PLANT MANAGER \n\nBe cross trained in the following areas as a backup and a trainer for new staff:\n\nGrinding\nBatching\nPelleting\nReceiving\nBin Management\nLoad out\n\n\nEnsure consistency and quality standards are met in the following areas:\n\nGrinding\nBatching\nPelleting\nReceiving\nBin Management\nLoad out\n\n\nPerform and document product quality control processes as specified.\nAssist in scheduling preventative maintenance on milling equipment. \nDiagnose feed processing problems and make any necessary equipment adjustments.\nPerform daily inventory reconciliation.\nManage daily ingredient inventories\/submit ingredient orders.\nEnsure inventory management SOP is met.\nResponsible for the entering and printing of feed ingredient purchase orders and receipt of goods.\nMaintain formula files and reconcile drug usage on a daily basis.\nSubmit ingredient and feed samples to lab and record results.\nAdhere to all safety protocols and advocate for a safe work environment. \nParticipate in Safety Committee and conduct monthly department safety meetings.\nAssist mill operations in diagnosing feed processing problems and make any necessary equipment adjustments.\nResponsible for all record keeping and ingredient audits required for HACCP Certification. \nPerform additional duties as assigned by Feed Plant Manager.\nSupport Plant Manager to improve processes and support company initiatives.\n\n

DRIVER MANAGEMENT\/ EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT\n\nAssist in training new drivers\/haulers as directed by Plant Manager\n\n

FEED DELIVERY\n\nAssist Plant Manager in scheduling daily feed delivery runs to reflect an organized and efficient delivery scheduling according to feed orders and plant requirements.\nWork with Feed Ordering Department on changes, retrievals and overruns as directed by Plant Manager.\n\n

STAFF DEVELOPMENT\n\nProvide input and direction in the recruitment process \nAssist in development and supervision of mill employees\nParticipate in development and execution of a strategic staffing plan for the Feed Mill.\nAssist in employee development training programs and monitor the use and effectiveness of the same.\nUtilize individual employee development planning processes to build and maximize human capital through use of the management development courses and regular performance feedback.\n\n

Education, Training, and Experience Requirements:\n\nMinimum formal education required: High School \nMinimum number of years of prior job experience required: Minimal, 1-3 years. Previous management or feed delivery operations or related areas preferred. \nOther Technical Skills required: Proficient in Microsoft word, Access, Excel, Outlook, and strong 10-Key skills\n\n

This position will require operating a company vehicle, or occasional mileage reimbursement. Any employment offer for this position is contingent upon the review of your motor vehicle record (MVR).
