Position will serve as Assistant Freeway Program Manager for Division 10. Will assist in managing, planning, and supervision of maintenance activities and force account construction for Interstate routes in Division 10 in accordance with established policies and procedures. Knowledge of the principles of civil engineering and highway methods and techniques. Considerable knowledge of the use and operation of all field and office engineering instruments; ability to understand, explain, and administer contracts; ability to interpret plans, provisions and specifications; ability to interpret policies, procedures, and regulations; and ability to establish work relationships between the Department and citizens. Must have the ability to prepare and organize written reports according to the documentation standards and requirements. This position must have the ability to act as a representative to the media on maintenance issues within Division 10. Work may include other duties and responsibilities as assigned. May be required to work long nights, weekends, holidays, hazardous weather, and extended hours as necessary. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Qualified applicants must submit an application that CLEARLY reflects work experience that demonstrates the following: + Experience in administering contracts + Knowledge of professional engineering skills and the ability to troubleshoot and solve highway maintenance problems + Experience and knowledge of the GIS system + Working knowledge and skill in the use of computer equipment, software and mathematical functions + Customer service experience related to resolving problems that involve explaining engineering concepts to various customer groups Additional Expectations: Ability to supervise and monitor maintenance programs to ensure efficient and safe use of personnel, equipment, and materials; to formulate a comprehensive highway maintenance program within limits of budget; supervise and evaluate the performance of other employees; communicate effectively; maintain positive working relationships; and operate motor vehicle safely. Work includes emergency situations, nights, and weekends as needed. Must have ability to traverse steep and uneven terrain. Will be subject to high volumes of traffic and extreme temperatures/weather conditions. Safety toe footwear required.
