Assistant General Counsel

Tri Pointe Homes is looking for an experienced individual to join our talented group as an Assistant General Counsel. Position Summary: The Assistant General Counsel will provide primary support on real estate and other matters related to the homebuilding industry as well as other non-real estate-related projects as needed. This is an opportunity to join a collegial and experienced legal team that works on sophisticated matters, supporting Tri Pointe Homes’ growth on a national scale. Responsibilities: Advise on a broad range of real estate transactional matters, including land acquisitions, joint ventures, joint development agreements, land bank transactions, real estate secured financings and corporate leases/subleases Draft/revise real estate documents and agreements, including brokerage/commission agreements, access & entry agreements and confidentiality agreements. Review and advise on commercial agreements, including vendor, subcontractor and consultant agreements. Work on other non-real estate-related matters, learning new substantive areas as needed Collaborate with outside counsel and coordinate with internal division teams as needed Qualifications: J.D. with excellent academic credentials California bar admission, in good standing 4-7 years of significant experience in sophisticated real estate transactional matters, including drafting/negotiating transaction agreements. Candidates with more than 4-7 years of experience will be considered and are encouraged to apply, as compensation would be commensurate with experience. Sophisticated law firm and/or in house training. Skills: Strong drafting and analytical skills, with high attention to detail Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects and deadlines Self-motivated and responsive to requests for assistance Creative thinking in reaching practical resolutions when possible Willingness to learn new areas of law Physical Requirements: May be sedentary for long periods of time May require repetitive motions such as typing Compensation & Benefits: Base Salary: The expected base salary range for this position is between $200,000 - $225,000 per year, depending on experience and skillset (compensation for candidates with more than 7 years of experience will be commensurate with experience). Base Salary is paid bi-weekly, every other Friday. Equity: This position may be eligible for an equity grant, in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Company's equity incentive plan document. Bonus: This position is eligible for an annual performance-based cash bonus. Bonuses are earned, calculated and paid in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Company’s applicable incentive plan document.
