**Please review the following job description:**
The Cyber Counsel position will provide legal support to Truist on matters related to cybersecurity and data protection. In particular, the job will include advising the enterprise on cyber legal risk and requirements as well as providing legal support to business units responsible for cybersecurity. This attorney will be a member of the Cybersecurity Legal Team within the Technology Group of the Legal Department and will work closely with Corporate Cyber Security and Technology Compliance.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
**Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.**
1. Provide support to Truist’s Legal Department and lines of business on legal matters relating to cybersecurity and data protection, including GLBA, NYDFS, PCI, and FFIEC frameworks.
2. Responsible for assessing legal risk, providing legal advice related to routine matters, and resolving legal problems which may represent potential exposure to Truist.
3. Assist cybersecurity incident response, including advising on legal risk and data breach notification requirements.
4. Keep abreast of and analyzing legislation, regulations, and case law developments relating to cybersecurity and data protection that affect Truist and the financial services industry.
5. Serve as an individual contributor but may provide ad hoc work direction and leadership to other legal staff regarding support on active cases or projects.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Required Qualifications:**

1. Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and licensed to practice law in good standing
2. Minimum 5 years of post-bar legal experience, including contract negotiation and legal work related to cybersecurity, data protection, and/or privacy.
3. Strong background in state and federal laws and regulations related to cybersecurity and data protection, especially those relevant to the financial services industry (e.g., GLBA, NYDFS, PCI).
4. Proven self-starter willing to work independently and take on responsibility
5. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
6. Ability to prioritize matters, utilize time management skills, and move between matters fluidly
7. Ability to handle a dynamic workload and meet critical deadlines.
8. Team-oriented mentality and excellent interpersonal skills .
9. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products
**Preferred Qualifications:**
1. Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) or another similar certification
2. Experience in a corporate legal department, especially a financial institution, having successfully held positions of advancing responsibility
3. Comfortable working in the entrepreneurial environment of a large, complex corporation.
