Assistant Geologist - Remediation, Environmental Services (St. Louis)
**Description** The Assistant Geologist will assist on a variety of environmental based tasks as required by the project including federal, state, local, and commercial clients. This position is responsible for field sampling, investigations, and report writing. + Assist with field related activities including logging soils, air monitoring during investigation and remediation activities, installation of groundwater monitoring wells, collection of soil and groundwater samples for laboratory analysis, and collection of soil for physical testing. + Assist in assessing soil and groundwater data, developing soil and groundwater sampling plans, data compilation for soil, air and groundwater analytical results. + Assist with proposal and report writing for environmental based projects. + Assist in coordinating and scheduling subcontractors for field investigation activities and assisting with site remediation planning and implementation. + Assist in coordinating laboratory analysis appropriate to the proper identification and evaluation of samples. + Assist with on-site field monitoring to document compliance with various federal, state, and local permit requirements during project construction. + Travel/field work may account for 50-80% of time during initial years of employment. + Performs other duties as assigned. + Complies with all policies and standards. **Qualifications** + Bachelor Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or related Environmental degree required. + Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred. + Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred, including experience, including experience in hazardous site assessment experience, such as Phase I, Phase II and remediation. + Basic knowledge in standard geological techniques, principles and procedures, especially sedimentary depositional environments, stratigraphy and hydrogeology. + Basic knowledge of the Unified Soil Classification System. + Basic knowledge of OSHA, CERCLA and remediation. + Excellent written & verbal communication skills. + Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills. + Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). + Basic knowledge of ArcGIS preferred. + Experience with AutoCadd, Surfer, MODFLOW, OpenGround, or RockWorks software is a plus. + Strong attention to detail, and skills in team building, collaboration, organization, facilitation, and problem solving skills. + Demonstrated leadership skills. + Certifications including OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER and First Aid/CPR/AED preferred + Must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy and must possess a valid driver's license. + Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e. without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
